Volunteers Needed for Step-up Day

Prospect Park

On Saturday, October 23, 2010, Kingsborough Community College staff, faculty and students will “Step-Up” to give back to their community by spending the day volunteering at different sites throughout New York City. 

Step-UP Day will comprise of 150 volunteers who will assemble at Kingsborough to board buses to travel to different sites across New York City to tackle projects such as beautifying Prospect Park, painting in  public schools, working in a community garden and painting a mural at a community center.  Step-UP Day is sponsored by Kingsborough’s Office of Student Life, Center for Civic Engagement, Phi Theta Kappa, and  Student Government. 

All participants will receive a free Step-UP Day t-shirt. Breakfast and lunch will  be provided for all volunteers.  For more in formation about Step-UP Day or if you would like to sign up, please go to the Office of Student Life (C-123) or call 718-368-5597.

Kingsborough Public Safety Officers Honored

Kingsborough Community College (KCC) Public Safety Officers Amna Ahmed and Elaine Lopez are being honored today at the CUNY Public Safety Awards Ceremony for their swift and heroic action in saving the life of a Kingsborough student last year.  The Kingsborough community extends both its gratitude and congratulations to these two outstanding public safety officers.
